Starter Chit Chat
To a plain person one might just see goo. I totally understand. Taking goo from one jar to another, mixing goo, playing with goo then boom bread! But to us sourdough people, ah the richness of the bubbles, the fruity smell and joy we get from this stretchy, stinky thing. This is grown up flubber friends, and I am here for it. Now I’m currently trying to name my starter. I am not looking for some punny name like Bread Pitt or Lil Yeasty…please just no. I’m thinking of more of a simple name. Anyways, I’ll keep you updated.
Three things I learned about my discard jar this week:
- Your discard is best used within a week
- When storing it in the fridge, seal the lid to keep it fresh longer
- Sharing your starter makes this bread journey so much more fun!
Now to the biscuits
Here we are again an overflowing jar of discard and another simple recipe. This one was even more fun because you get to use your hands a little. I found this chive biscuit recipe from Feasting At Home.
I used green onions instead of chives and choose to use sour cream over buttermilk. These were so delicious served with a fried egg and cheese.
